Mat 10:12 When you go into a house, say, 'Peace be with you.'
One of Aesop's fables tells of four oxen who were such great friends that they always kept together when feeding. A lion watched them for many days with longing eyes, but never being able to find one apart from the rest, was afraid to attack them. Whenever he came near they turned their tails to one another so that whichever way he approached them he was met by horns. At length he succeeded in awakening jealousy among them, which grew into a mutual aversion, and they strayed a considerable distance from each other. The lion then fell upon them singly and killed them all.
Pro 17:14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water; therefore leave off fighting, before it breaks out.
Christ's basic law for harmonious co-existence with others is found in Luk_6:31: "As ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise."
Matthew states it this way: "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Mat_7:12).
The life of a Christian can be described in one of four ways: as a journey, as a battle, as a pilgrimage, and as a race. Select your own metaphor, but the necessity to finish is always the same. For if life is a journey, it must be completed. If life is a battle, it must be finished. If life is a pilgrimage, it must be concluded. And if it is a race, it must be won.
Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all fullness should dwell. 20 And through Him having made peace through the blood of His cross, it pleased the Father to reconcile all things to Himself through Him, whether the things on earth or the things in Heaven. 21 And you, who were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish, and without charge in His sight, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard and which was proclaimed in all the creation under Heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister,
The dictionary defines “fullness” as: completely filled; containing all that can be held; filled to utmost capacity, abundant; well-supplied, the highest or fullest state, condition, or degree.
In God, all these adverbs, nouns and adjectives apply. In Him we are, complete.
The key being to continue in “hope”, in the faith, grounded and settled, never moving away from the gospel.
In Him I have been made righteous. In Him is my salvation. In Him lies my inheritance; In Him I am more than a conqueror.
I have traded my yoke and accepted His yoke, which is light. I have given Him my burdens and He takes care.
I can make clear decisions because I have Him as my guide. He has given me the Teacher, the Comforter and a friend. In Him I have a friend that walks closer than a brother.
His name is Jesus!
Psa 4:6 There are many who pray: "Give us more blessings, O LORD. Look on us with kindness!" 7 But the joy that you have given me is more than they will ever have with all their grain and wine. 8 When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace; you alone, O LORD, keep me perfectly safe.
I have peace. The peace of someone, who has been chosen. He keeps me perfectly safe.
Wherever I go, I can present peace.
